INTERVIEWER
All right, um, So, it sounds like, I mean, just based on answers you've given so far, that this, this should be a fairly easy question for you to answer or to, to draw on an experience. But, uh, I'm, I'm very interested to, to talk about a time where, you know, you went begging for forgiveness instead of asking for permission, right? You just went, you saw something, you need to do it, you need to get done, right? But you didn't want to wait around and, and, and wait for someone to tell you it was OK. You just like went and did it. What, what was the situation? What did you do?
CANDIDATE
OK, so I'm not sure if I'm actually answering your question here, but this was certainly a case where, where that was, where that was, was the case. Um, so, you know, when, when it came to making the decision of quitting my job, um, you know, after 2 years, I was in a very stable situation, very solid. Uh, life very settled, um, high paying job, all the perks, everything, and. It was a decision that I just made without anyone's permission, it was just completely. You know, it was a very difficult decision, but it had to be made. In hindsight, it's kind of clear because, you know, this is the path I've taken and I'm really pleased about it, but at the time, it was a very big plunge and it made absolutely no sense to anyone, to anyone around me, it's like absolutely what are you doing, it makes no sense, don't do it, um, and I, I had to take, you know, go with my own devices and my own gut and, The decision that I made was that was one of the, one of those, one of those situations, yeah, definitely.
INTERVIEWER
So. I guess the first question I have is what, what information do you have? That led you to believe that this was the right decision.
CANDIDATE
Ah, good question. So the, the, I, I would say the, the information that I had at that particular point was only historic information. So it was the information with which I was already operating in, which is, this is the current structure I'm in, this is the current framework I'm in, this is the current set of teams I'm with, and You know, this is the, the, the only direction I can go in this kind of structure is in that direction. Um, and that was the, the key thing here actually, which, which then drove me to make my decision. Because I actually discovered product management in its purest form, like properly, was actually over the last year where I've been able to really explore. So the idea here over the last year was to, Um, just kind of learn new skills, really get involved in the digital side as well. I certainly didn't know product management was a role in itself, and that this role existed where you can work with different teams, bring about from kind of ideation into concept. I thought this was only in an entrepreneur. Um, I didn't know that this was, this existed in, in the tech world, as it, as it does, and, and yeah, so sorry, I, I did digress there, but just, yeah.
INTERVIEWER
And so do you feel like you made the right decision?
CANDIDATE
So, uh, I, I, I think so, yes. I, I, and the reason I say I think so is because despite the, you know, the monetary loss that I've had over the last year. The, the skills that I've learned instead, um. I'd like to think. Well, firstly, I, I, I'd firstly like to take a moment to say yes, I do appreciate all the skills that I have learned, but I'd also like to think that those skills allow me to go into the direction that I, I, I now would like to see it to be going into, essentially.
